The Partners
Lorraine and Pamela met in 2002 through a mutual friend who introduced them to each other because they had something in common: they were both freelance writers and military spouses. They hit it off immediately although Pamela was living in Hawaii and and Lorraine was living in Georgia. During their telephone conversations they began throwing around the idea of writing a book together. Before they knew it, they had developed the idea, divided the roles, and written a book proposal via e-mail and telephone. After initial efforts to "shop it around" both military spouses took a publishing break to relocate their families to new cities. The first time the ladies met in person was in 2003 when Lorraine coordinated a ladies spa day in Georgia, where Pamela lived. It was soon thereafter that they picked up where they left off and eventually landed a contract with Parker Publishing LLC. The second time the ladies met in person was in 2006 while Pamela was on a business trip to the DC area where Lorraine lived. The perfect combination of Pamela's career management experience, Lorraine's public relations experience and their shared writing and presenting skills makes them a superb partnership for empowering other women who want to work it. The rest, they say, is history.
